With a mission dedicated to ensuring patients are the beneficiaries of outstanding care provided in a warm, compassionate, and stress-reducing environment, Jefferson Health sought to create a Medical Oncology Suite constructed in formerly unoccupied shell space of the Jefferson Health Medical Office Building in Cherry Hill, NJ. The project included the creation of 12,525 sqft of space dedicated to infusion services, clinical services, & other oncology services for Jefferson Health to achieve their mission. Program space included 18-infusion cubicles, 2-private infusion rooms, 11-clinical exam rooms, blood draw space, counseling/consult space, a workroom lab, and administrative offices as well as physician and staff support spaces for the infusion area and exam rooms.
Important accommodation for patients in specific areas included infusion bays and private infusion rooms, which were separated from the administration and clinical areas of the Oncology Suite. In-suite laboratory spaces are now equipped to perform an extensive amount of testing services as well as blood banking, tests for blood glucose, arterial blood gases, and electrolytes. Included in the well-thought-out design were elements to aide in the isolation of immunosuppressed patients from other patients, visitors, or family members. Patients can now be scheduled to go directly to a private infusion room or exam room without occupying the waiting area. Also included was a back door with an elevator immediately adjacent to the hospital parking garage, which allows patients, following treatment, to leave the care area without being transported through the general waiting area.
TCC provided project management services including concept budgeting, design management, management of value engineering, construction, activation/occupancy, and assistance with regulatory approvals. By helping Jefferson Health and the project team solve problems throughout the project, TCC brought this project within budget and on schedule.
